Canadian National Team Forward Tiffany Cameron Joins Squad

PRAIRIE VILLAGE, Kan (June 26, 2024) – As the second half of the National Women’s Soccer League swings into action, FC Kansas City is preparing for the stretch run with the signing of Canadian forward Tiffany Cameron, pending league approval.  Already known for having one of the league’s best midfields and two of the most dangerous forwards in Renae Cuellar and Melissa Henderson, Cameron joins the team as another offensive threat to help the team battle for playoff positioning.  Per team and league policy, terms of the contract are not disclosed

Cameron, a native of Toronto, will be available when FC Kansas City faces her Canadian National teammate Christine Sinclair and the Portland Thorns on Sunday June 30th at 3:10p.m.  She first hit the international scene at the FIFA U-17 World Cup where she started all four matches for her home country and led them to the quarterfinal round.  Her first opportunity with the senior national team came in January when she traveled to China for the Four Nation’s Women’s Cup.  Her first start came on April 7th against England in an international friendly and saw sixty minutes of action in the team’s rematch against the United States on June 2nd.

“With (Cameron) we now have eight players who play for their country’s senior national team, more than just about every other team in the league,” said Team President Brian Budzinski.  “She will help us solidify our place among the league’s leaders.”

At Ohio State University, Cameron started 83 games in her four year career.  She was a 2024 NSCAA second team All-American and two-time first team All-Big Ten selection who left Ohio State as the Buckeyes’ all-time leading goal scorer with 40 and tallied 96 career points, also the most in school history. She led the Buckeyes with 21 goals in 2024, shattering the previous school record of 13. Cameron’s nine game-winning goals were the most in the country and her 19 career game-winners tied for fourth-most in Big Ten history.

Cameron was originally signed by the Seattle Reign as a free agent in February, she was recently made available when Seattle was forced to release her to clear up an international spot on their roster.  Although she was caught up in a numbers game in Seattle, she is a welcome addition to an already strong team in Kansas City.  Cameron is also an avid music fan.  She sings and raps under the stage name Ladiie Spitz.
