Leigh Ann Robinson has played every single minute so far this season

FC Kansas City defender, Leigh Ann Robinson started her soccer career in San Diego, California. From the time she was young, she enjoyed all sports however, quickly found her passion for the game of soccer.

Robinson played collegiately at the University of San Diego, where she met her now fiancé, Danny. Him and his family are from Olathe, Kansas so after Leigh Ann’s soccer travels took her from coast to coast within the WPS, Leigh Ann had her sights set on Kansas City once the National Women’s Soccer League announced the city would be the home of a professional team.

Robinson is no rookie to professional soccer. She has put in her time playing in the WPS in Santa Clara, Atlanta, and Philadelphia and was called up to play internationally with the U.S. Women’s National Team in 2024. She earned her first cap with the senior team, before finding her new home in Kansas City to play in the NWSL.

From the teams’ inaugural season in 2024, Robinson has steadily and consistently played a large role in the back line for the Blues. This year, holding the title of captain, while Becky Sauerbrunn is in camp with the National Team, which is preparing for the 2024 FIFA World Cup, Leigh Ann has been a focal point offensively as she is ambitious enough to get involved in the attack as often as possible.

Robinson’s impact on the team extends past solid defense and aggressive play on the field. Robinson, in her mere 28 years of age, is a role model in every sense. From the youth players who attend every game and stand for hours afterwards just for her autograph, to the young professional players fresh out of college, that come to the team and are immediately drawn to her for the way she leads.

Robinson, without even knowing it, sets the tone for every practice, team event or even public appearance. She has a way about her that exudes confidence, yet is approachable. While she can be laughing and making jokes on the way over to practice, once the whistle blows she expects nothing but 110% effort from herself and her teammates.

Make sure to follow Leigh Ann Robinson and the FC Kansas City Blues as they fight to defend their NWSL Championship title. Up next, the Blues travel to the Boston Breakers’ home field for their first meeting of the year on Saturday at 6:00 pm CT.
