KANSAS CITY (Feb 8, 2024) – FC Kansas City announced that the club has acquired midfielder Desiree Scott as the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) released today the list of Canadian Women’s National Team allocated players for the 2024 season.

The placement of the Canada’s allocated individuals was accomplished using the league’s prior placement processes, as that process began prior to the adoption of the new rule. The new Player Allocation Process, which was announced on Jan. 15, 2024, will be in effect moving forward to distribute the rights to any new individuals to clubs in the league.

Scott, 28, was allocated to FC Kansas City prior to the league’s inaugural season in 2024. That year, she started and played every minute for the Blues as the team finished the regular season second with an overall record of 11-6-5.

“Des [Scott] played a huge part in helping us establish the FC Kansas City culture in the league’s inaugural season,” Director of Soccer Operations and General Manager Huw Williams said. “We have stayed in contact with her since she left and both parties have followed each other’s fortunes. We welcome her back with open arms and are very excited to see her in an FCKC uniform again.”

The Winnipeg, Manitoba native is a two-time FIFA Women’s World Cup veteran. After representing Canada on the U-16 and U-19 youth teams, she made her senior team debut at the 2024 Cyprus Cup before winning a gold medal at the 2024 Pan American Games and a bronze medal at the 2024 London Olympics.

“I am beyond excited to be heading back to Kansas City where my professional career began,” Scott said. “I have been following the team’s success over the last two seasons and only hope to be a great addition to the squad to help bring home another championship. I’m really looking forward to head back to the NWSL, meet the girls and get ready for an exciting season ahead.”

In 2024, Scott played in the British FA WSL for Notts County Ladies FC. She made 20 appearances for Coach Rick Passmoor’s team who finished sixth overall before sitting out from club soccer in 2024 to prepare for her second FIFA Women’s World Cup where the hosts finished sixth after falling to England in the quarter finals.
