KANSAS CITY (April 8, 2016) — FC Kansas City announced today the signing of defender Alex Arlitt, who was the 38th selection of the National Women’s Soccer League College Draft. She is the second player of her class to sign, joining midfielder Katie Bowen.

Arlitt, a Louisiana State University graduate, was selected in the fourth round by the two-time defending NWSL champions. She appeared in 89 matches for the Tigers with 87 starts to rank third in school history in total appearances. She recorded nine goals and seven assists in her college career.

“When watching film on Alex’s performances at LSU, we were impressed with her play and we believed she had the potential to do well in our league,” general manager Huw Williams said. “After working with her in our preseason camp, we are even more excited and are happy to have her sign her first professional contract.”

Arlitt has started two of the Blues’ four preseason games and the defense has allowed just one goal in that time.
