RECAP: FC Kansas City caps preseason play with two victories

KANSAS CITY (April 9, 2024) – FC Kansas City concluded preseason play with a pair of 45-minute exhibition victories against UMKC and the University of Minnesota on Saturday afternoon. Both games were played at UMKC’s Durwood Stadium.

Erika Tymrak led the Blues in the first game with assists on both of the team’s goals. The first went to Shea Groom in the 38th minute and the second went to Yael Averbuch at the end of regulation.

Groom finished the preseason with a team-high five goals. Heather O’Reilly, who is currently with the U.S. Women’s National Team, ranked second with three.

The Blues faced stiff defense in the second game and were held scoreless until the 43rd minute. Frances Silva put them ahead to secure the day’s second victory.
