FC KANSAS CITY TO HOLD OPEN TRYOUTS

Stanley H. Durwood Soccer Stadium To Host Both Tryout Weekends

PRAIRIE VILLAGE, KS – FC Kansas City, of the National Women’s Soccer League, announced two tryout weekends as they prepare for their inaugural season.  University of Missouri Kansas City (UMKC) will host both weekends at Stanley H. Durwood Soccer Stadium.  The Stanley H. Durwood Soccer Stadium serves as the official home of the UMKC Kangaroos and provides student-athletes, students and community groups with one of the top soccer facilities in the Midwest.

Head coach of the Kangaroos Women's Soccer team, Chris Cissell said, "We're the only Division I collegiate soccer program in Kansas City and we look forward to a relationship with the professional side. We're thrilled to partner with FC Kansas City in any capacity, beginning with these tryouts." Coach Cissell added, "Selfishly I'm just excited to see Kansas City become such a great soccer hotbed and want to help in any way that I can."

February 16th and 17th tryouts will be open to all players 18 years of age or older and are also open to the public.  All interested participants can pre-register online or at the stadium on the first day of the event.

Following that, Head Coach Vlatko Andonovski will hold an Invitational Combine at Durwood Stadium on March 2nd and 3rd.  This event will feature players from the Open Tryouts as well as other players that Coach Andonovski feels might be a good fit for his team.

“With the team we have already assembled, plus the talent that can be found in Kansas City and the surrounding states, we feel that these two weekends will help us find the final pieces to complete what should be a very good team," said Andonovski.
