LEIGH ANN ROBINSON SIGNS NEW CONTRACT

Versatile Defender To Return Through 2024 Season

PRAIRIE VILLAGE, Kan. (March 6, 2024) – FC Kansas City announced the signing of defender Leigh Ann Robinson to a new contract through the 2024 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) season. Per team and league policies, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

“I’m very excited to be locking myself into Kansas City for another year,” Robinson said. “I feel like this offseason we have strengthened our team even more and we are in a position for success. I’m really looking forward to starting the preseason next week.”

Robinson was one of the first players to sign with FC Kansas City prior to the 2024 season. She started all 22 regular season games, plus the NWSL Semifinal match against Portland Thorns FC. She was known mainly for shutting down the opposing team’s forwards, but was very effective offensively as well. She finished the season with five assists, second only to Lauren Holiday on the team and tied for sixth best in the league.

“Leigh Ann was a very important player for us last year as she proved herself to be one of the best backs in the league,” Kansas City technical director Huw Williams said. “Her play and leadership qualities make her a player that we want to be part of FC Kansas City for a long time.”

FC Kansas City begins preseason training on Monday, March 10. The 2024 NWSL Regular Season kicks off at UMKC’s Durwood Stadium on April 12th when the Blues face off against Sky Blue FC at 7:00p.m. CT. Single game and Season Tickets are available by calling 855.4KC.GOAL (855.452.4625).
