PRAIRIE VILLAGE, Kan. (March 7, 2014) – FC Kansas City is set to open preseason training camp Monday, March 10 as they prepare for the 2014 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) season. In addition to the daily training routine, the team has scheduled four preseason exhibition games. Many of the stars from last year’s team return for the start of training camp, including Goalkeeper of the Year Nicole Barnhart and Rookie of the Year, Erika Tymrak. Several of the team’s high-profile offseason acquisitions will also be present for Monday’s opening sessions, such as Liz Bogus and First-Round Draft Pick, Kassey Kallman. Newly acquired forward Amy Rodriguez and Defender of the Year Becky Sauerbrunn are expected to join the team after their commitment to the U.S. Women’s National Team at the Algarve Cup is over.

This will be the first time NWSL’s 2013 Coach of the Year, Vlatko Andonovski will see how the talent brought in during the off season fits in with his experienced squad. Draft picks Kallman, Morgan Marlborough, Jenna Richmond, Frances Silva, Mandy Laddish and Maegan Kelly will experience their first professional camp, while veterans Bogus and Nikki Phillips (formerly Krzysik) will get their first taste of Andonovski’s training style.

FC Kansas City has a new training home this season, Johnson County Community College (JCCC). As part of the partnership between JCCC and the Blues, the team will provide internship opportunities to students, tickets for staff and student use and will host youth camps at the school.

The Blues will travel to the University of Missouri and the University of Kansas for preseason matches on March 18 and March 29. The team will travel to the St. Louis Soccer Park in Fenton, MO for an exhibition against the Chicago Stars on March 22. All three of these games will be free and open to the public. The team finishes off its preseason schedule against Oklahoma State University in a closed scrimmage, however the scrimmage will be streamed live on

The 2014 season officially opens on April 12 when FC Kansas City hosts Sky Blue FC at 7:00p.m. CT. All 2014 FCKC home matches will be at the University of Missouri Kansas City’s Durwood Stadium.
