FC KANSAS CITY RE-SIGNS FOUR PLAYERS

Four back to back NWSL Champion midfielders will return for the 2024 season

KANSAS CITY, Mo (November 24, 2024) – FC Kansas City announced today the re-signing of four players that helped the Blues win the 2024 and the 2024 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Championships. All four players will return for the league’s fourth campaign, which will kick off in April of 2024.

Kansas City has re-signed midfielders Jen Buczkowski, Mandy Laddish, Erika Tymrak and Frances Silva. Per club and league policies, terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

“We are very excited to have these players sign new contracts ahead of the upcoming season and to have them sustain and enhance our club culture.” FC Kansas City GM and Director of Soccer Operations Huw Williams said.

Buczkowski, 30, is the only player in the league to have started all 66 matches since the league’s first season recording a total of 5,848 minutes on the field. In three years, the Notre Dame product has scored two goals and six assists.

"I am really excited to have signed again with FC Kansas City for my fourth year," Buczkowski said. "There is no other club I'd rather be a part of. The entire organization as a whole has built a strong foundation for successful women's soccer. I am proud to call Kansas City my home."

Tymrak, 24, will return to Kansas City for a fourth season. The Bradenton, Florida native has been one of FCKC’s midfield pillars since the team’s first year where she earned NWSL Rookie of the Year honors. In three years, Tymrak has scored a total of 13 goals and 9 assists.

“I can’t wait to be back in Kansas City,” Tymrak said. “It has become my second home and the city and organization have been so good to me.”

In addition, FC Kansas City re-signed the young midfield duo of hometown players Mandy Laddish and Frances Silva.

Laddish, 23, earned a spot in the starting lineup this season after several solid performances. In 2024, she appeared in two matches for the Blues in her rookie season. However, her numbers increased greatly as she played in 16 games and started 13 this year. The Lee’s Summit, Missouri native recorded one goal and three assists.

“I am very excited to be continuing my career with FC Kansas City in front of friends and family,” Laddish said. “It’s an honor to continue to represent my hometown that has provided me with so many opportunities in life.”

Silva, 23, was selected by FCKC in the 2024 NWSL College Draft after a successful collegiate career at West Virginia University. The Overland Park, Kansas native returned home to play professionally and has played in 33 games recording two goals and four assists.

“I’m really excited to be able to re-sign with FCKC and continue my career at home in front of our great fans,” Silva said. “The first two years have been great and I’m just excited to be able to continue to grow as a player here under this great staff.”

FC Kansas City will now set their sights on the 2024 NWSL College Draft, which will be held on Friday, January 15 at the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Convention in Baltimore.
