FC Kansas City Returns Home to Face Houston
KANSAS CITY (June 30, 2024) – FC Kansas City (3-4-4, 13 pts) looks to get back on the winning track after dropping a midweek game in Portland on Wednesday. The team returns home to host the Houston Dash (3-7-1, 10 pts) at Swope Soccer Village Sunday at 7:00 p.m. CT. It will be the third match in eight days for the Blues who return home after a West Coast road trip that included a 1-1 draw in Seattle prior to the Portland match.
The Blues' usually stout defense, struggled in their midweek matchup against Portland. The three goals were the most allowed by the Kansas City defense in a game this season. However, the road trip was not all bad for the Blues. Kansas City battled to a hard fought draw just days earlier in Seattle. Head Coach Vlatko Andonovski hopes to jump-start his offense against the Dash. Kansas City has scored eight goals in their previous five games at Swope Soccer Village, while Houston has given up a league-high 20 goals so far.
The Dash have found recent success with the addition of star U.S. National Team midfielder Carli Lloyd to the team. However, the Dash will be without one of their leading scorers, Kealia Ohai, who recently was recently ruled out for the season with a knee injury.
Sunday’s match will be the first between the two teams this season. The two teams split the series a year ago when both teams were victorious on the road.
FC Kansas City will honor past, present and future military members in the local community, across the country and overseas during Sunday’s game as part of their Military Appreciation Night. Fans are encouraged to come out with their family and friends to show their support for the military and cheer on the Blues to victory.
