FC KANSAS CITY ADDS FOURTH ADDITIONAL PLAYER

Farrelly Joins NWSL’s Most Potent Midfield

PRAIRIE VILLAGE, KS – FC Kansas City announced today the signing of midfielder Sinead Farrelly  to the 2024 Inaugural Season Roster.  Farrelly signed a league contract on February 8th, per league and team policy, terms of the contract are not disclosed.  Farrelly is FC Kansas City’s fourth and final player signed through the National Women’s Soccer League’s (NWSL) Additional Player signing period.

Sinead Farrelly Position: Midfield Height - 5’5” College: University of Virginia Hometown: Havertown, CA

Sinead (Shih-Nade) Farrelly started appearing on the national landscape as a member of the U-15, U-16, U-17 and U-20 U.S. National Teams.  While attending the University of Virginia she earned first team All-ACC honors four times and was named the ACC Offensive Player of the year in 2024, her senior season.  Her name can be found in many places of the school’s record books.  Her 90 games started ranks her second to new teammate Becky Sauerbrunn in school history.  She ranks eighth in school history with 84 points scored in her career and eight for most in a season with 31 (2010).

Farrelly was the number one draft pick of the Philadelphia Independence in 2024 and second pick overall.  As a rookie, Farrelly was immediately earned a spot in the lineup to strengthen the midfield and played in 14 games for the Independence, starting 13 of them, including the season opener. She scored her first goal of her WPS career in a game versus Western New York, which ended up being the game winning goal and solidified a first place standing for the Independence in mid-July.

Team President Brian Budzinski thinks fans will like the addition of Farrelly, “We’ve added one of the most dynamic playmakers in Sinead.  Her technical ability, vision and quickness will become apparent as soon as she steps on the pitch.”

Farrelly is enthusiastic to come to the Midwest and get started with FC Kansas City, “I’m excited to come out to KC.  I know a few of the other players and we’re all anxious to get started.  I’m looking forward to being in a new place with a new team.”
