FC KANSAS CITY AGREES TO TERMS WITH CASEY LOYD

Forward Set To Join Club Prior to Weekend

PRAIRIE VILLAGE, KS – FC Kansas City announced today the signing of former U.S. Women’s National Team player and fourth round Supplemental Draft pick, Casey Loyd.  Per league and team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

As the season inches closer, the final pieces of the puzzle are falling into place for head coach Vlatko Andonovski’s team.  “We have a style of play here that requires great footskill and smart decision making,” said Andonovski, “Casey (Loyd) will be able to step in and help immediately.”

The daughter of one of indoor soccer’s greatest stars, Victor Nogueira, Loyd was a soccer star in her own right for the University of North Carolina from 2024-2009.  As a Tarheel, she earned a National Championship in 2024, scoring in the semi-final and final games of the national tournament.  She earned first team honors for Soccer America MVP, NSCAA All-America, Top Drawer Soccer All-America, Soccer Buzz All-America and All-ACC.  She was the 2024 Mary Garber Award Winner for being the top ACC Female Athlete.

She was drafted eighth overall by the Los Angeles Sol in 2024, but when the team folded she was drafted to the Chicago Red Stars.  She signed with Sky Blue FC in 2024 after Chicago announced it would not be returning to the WPS.

Loyd has been a part of the U.S. National Team Pool since she was called to the U16 National Team.  She was a member of the U.S. Women’s U20 National Team that placed 4th at the 2024 U20 World Cup and won silver at the 2024 PanAm Games.  She has earned one cap with the senior U.S. Women’s National Team in 2024 when England held the team to a 1-1 draw.

“I’m very excited about FC Kansas City giving me the opportunity to play the beautiful game,” said Loyd. “…really, I just can’t wait to get to camp and start playing.”

Loyd will join the team late this week and is expected to participate in Saturday’s closed-door scrimmage against the University of Kansas.

Sesselmann, Scott Called to National Team Duty Canadian allocated players, Lauren Sesselmann and Desiree Scott, have been selected as part of the Canadian Women’s National Team 19-player roster for their upcoming Friendly matches against France and England.

Canada will first take on France on Thursday April 4th at Stade du Ray in Nice, France (kickoff 11:30am CDT), before travelling to New York Stadium in Rotherham to face England on April 7th (9:00am CDT).  Both players are expected back before the Season Opening game on April 13th at Shawnee Mission District Stadium
