PRAIRIE VILLAGE, Kan (April 12, 2024) – FC Kansas City announced today its local broadcast partners for the Inaugural National Women’s Soccer League. All FC Kansas City games will be broadcast at FCKansasCity.com via its YouTube channel and eight games will also be broadcast on Time Warner Cable’s Metro Sports. Veteran soccer announcer, Sean Wheelock headlines the FC Kansas City YouTube broadcast crew. Wheelock holds the distinction of being the only person to serve as a play-by-play commentator on the FIFA World Cup, Super Bowl, US Open tennis, and world championship fights in mixed martial arts. One of the best known American commentators in both MMA and soccer, Wheelock’s broadcasting work has taken him to over 25 countries, and dates back to when he was 18 years old.

The youngest television broadcaster in Major League Soccer’s inaugural season of 1996, Wheelock has served as the host of “MLS ExtraTime” on ESPN2, “MLS Wrap” on Fox Soccer Channel, and as the voice of the Kansas City Wizards of MLS. His television and radio soccer play by play experience also includes numerous MLS matches for ESPN/ESPN2 and Fox Soccer Channel, World Cup Qualifiers, CONCACAF Gold Cup, US Open Cup, French League 1, Dutch Eredivise, USL, WPS, and NCAA Men’s and Women’s college soccer.

Joining Wheelock on the broadcast will be FC Kansas City reserve player, Missy Geha. Journalism major from Kansas University, Geha is a local soccer star. Along the way she earned three All-state selections, Student Sports selection as one of the top 75 junior soccer players in the United States, and was named Gatorade’s Soccer Player of the Year in 2024.

"As the father of two young daughters (Ellee age 7 & Hadlee age 2), I'm thrilled to be a part of FC Kansas City and the NWSL as a commentator in this inaugural season. I've always been a huge and vocal supporter of female sports, and now I'm given the first opportunity of my broadcasting career to be involved in a women's league on a regular basis,” said Wheeler. “Also, as a Kansas City resident and native with a long history with professional soccer, it's really exciting for me to again be involved on the local level in my hometown. I could not be more psyched." Dates and broadcast crews for the Time Warner Cable Metro Sports broadcasts will be announced at a later date.
