FC KANSAS CITY ACQUIRES 19TH OVERALL SELECTION

Houston Dash Receives Bianca Henninger as Part of Trade Agreement

PRAIRIE VILLAGE, Kansas (January 13, 2024) – FC Kansas City continues to prepare for the 2024 National Women’s Soccer League 2024 College Draft this Friday. The team announced today the acquisition of the 19th overall selection in the draft, previously held by the expansion Houston Dash. In exchange, the Dash will receive goalkeeper Bianca Henninger, a move made possible with the allocation of Mexican goalkeeper Cecilia Santiago to Kansas City

“Bianca was a very popular player on our roster last season and she will be greatly missed,” said Technical Director Huw Williams. “Sometimes you have to make decisions based on the best interests of the player. With this trade Bianca will have an opportunity for more playing time and we have an opportunity to improve our team in the draft.”

Henninger appeared in two games last season while Nicole Barnhart was away on U.S. Women’s National Team duty. She split a home-and-home series with the Chicago Red Stars that saw both teams win on the road. She posted a clean sheet in the team’s 2-0 victory at Chicago.

FC Kansas City now has five picks in the 2024 College Draft, scheduled for Friday January 17th at 9a.m. CT at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.
