FC KANSAS CITY ADDS SECOND ROUND DRAFT CHOICE

Blues Receive 16th Overall Selection From Portland Thorns FC

PRAIRIE VILLAGE, Kansas (January 13, 2024) – After adding a third round draft choice earlier today , FC Kansas City announced the acquisition of another second round draft pick (16th overall) from Portland Thorns FC. In exchange, midfielder Sinead Farrelly will be heading to Portland.

“We were blessed with a very strong and deep midfield,” said Technical Director Huw Williams. “Sinead is a great player and will do very well in Portland. We feel this draft is also very strong and we will be able to improve our roster with this selection.”

Farrelly appeared in 16 games last season, starting ten. Her creativity in the midfield was vital in helping the Blues establish the style of play that helped them tie for the league’s top spot at the end of the season. She scored the first goal against Seattle Reign FC off a cross from Lauren Holiday (then Cheney) on April 26, 2024.

In Friday’s College Draft, FC Kansas City is now scheduled to have six selections. The team will have one selection each round in the first (5th) and fourth rounds (35th), while making two selections in the second (12th, 16th) and third (19th, 20th) rounds.
