PRAIRIE VILLAGE, KAN. (November 6, 2024) – FC Kansas City announced today the club has re-signed head coach Vlatko Andonovski to a three-year contract extension after leading FC Kansas City to the club’s first National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Championship in 2024. Per league and team policies, contract details were not disclosed.

In the club’s two years with Andonovski as head coach, Kansas City has 23 wins, the most of any club in the NWSL.  Andonovski captured his first NWSL title with a 2-1 win over Seattle Reign FC at the Starfire Sports Stadium in Tukwila, Wash. on Aug. 31. The win was the second in five months for Andonovski, who also led the Missouri Comets to its first Major Indoor Soccer League title in 2024. The championship capped off a regular season where the Blues finished 12-7-5 and finished with 41 points, good enough for second in the league.

"I was more than happy to have the initial opportunity of coaching both FC Kansas City and the Missouri Comets," Andonovski said. "I am very excited with this new opportunity that the ownership has decided to give me. Working with such dedicated players and a first class organization is a pleasure."

Andonovski joined FC Kansas City as head coach for the inaugural season of the NWSL in 2024 and led the Blues to a second-place finish (11-6-5, 38 pts.) in the regular season. Vlatko was also named the 2024 NWSL Coach of the Year for his efforts.

Andonovski has an impressive soccer pedigree that includes an illustrious career as both a coach and player. He holds an U.S. Soccer Federation “A” License, NSCAA Goalkeeping Diploma and has held positions as Director of Coaching for Futura FC, Sporting Blue Valley ECNL Director and assistant collegiate coach. Andonovski has also held head coaching positions for the Kansas City Kings (PASL) and the Missouri girls ODP program, as well as at the youth level, where he won four Missouri State Championships and a Youth National Championship.

Vlatko played professionally for six seasons in Europe for clubs such as Rbotnicki FC, Vardar and Makedonija GP. He also played indoor professionally in the NPSL for the Wichita Wings and in the MISL for the Kansas City Comets, California Cougars and the Philadelphia Kixx.
