BLUES WRAP UP 2015 PRESEASON WITH TWO VICTORIES IN ST. LOUIS

Rookie Shea Groom scored her third preseason goal

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO (April 4, 2015) – The defending National Women’s Soccer League champion FC Kansas City defeated the Iowa State Cyclones and the Missouri Tigers in two forty-five minute exhibition contests at the Lou Fusz Soccer Complex on Saturday morning.

Kansas City concluded it’s four-game preseason with a record of 4-0 after defeating the Nebraska Cornhuskers, the Kansas Jayhawks, the Iowa State Cyclones and the Missouri Tigers before kicking of the 2015 NWSL season against Sky Blue f FC at Sporting Park on Sunday, April 12th.

Head coach Vlatko Andonovski’s team kicked off against Iowa State in a hard fought and even match, which saw Kansas City possess the ball for the majority of the game.

However, the Blues were held to only one goal coming in the 41st minute when midfielder Erika Tymrak fired a rocket from outside the box that found the back of the net after a slight touch from goalkeeper Lindsey Hendon to end the half (match) with a final score of 1-0.

After a fifteen-minute break, the Tigers got on the field for the second half to take on the Blues for the third time in team history.

Only ten minutes into the game, Tymrak notched her second tally of the day when she dribbled past the defensive line on the left side of the field before her right-footed rocket beat goalkeeper Kristen Rivers to make it 1-0.

In the 63rd minute, rookie Shea Groom scored her third tally as a professional when she found the ball and kicked to the roof of the net after a rebound from Rivers to make it 2-0 over the Tigers.

Moments later, Kaysie Clark notched her first professional goal against her former team to make it 3-0 when she received a ball from Robinson and put it to the bottom far right corner in the 68th minute.

In the 79th minute, Kansas City would add one more goal to the scoreboard when Kim DeCesare shot a firs-touch right-footed ball to the left corner to end the match 4-0.
