KANSAS CITY, Mo. (May 29, 2024) – FC Kansas City will kick off a three-game road trip this Saturday when the Blues visit the Boston Breakers at the Soldiers Field Soccer Stadium. Kansas City and Boston will meet for the first time in 2024. Both teams will square off again on July 9 in Boston and on August 22 at Swope Soccer Village. Overall, FC Kansas City leads the All-time series 5-1-0.

The last time the Breakers and the Blues squared off, FC Kansas City earned a 2-1 win at Durwood Stadium with goals from Amy Rodriguez, Sarah Hagen and now FCKC player Heather O’Reilly on August 6, 2024.

Head Coach Vlatko Andonovski’s team is coming from a disappointing 2-1 home loss against the Chicago Red Stars, while the Breakers settled for a 1-1 draw against Sky Blue FC. In addition, Breakers players Kassey Kallman and Morgan Marlborough will face off against their former team as they helped the Blues win the 2024 NWSL Championship.

Along with all four U.S. Women’s National Team players (Amy Rodriguez, Becky Sauerbrunn, Lauren Holiday and Heather O’Reilly), Kansas City will be without midfielder Frances Silva who is recovering from a left ankle sprain.

Head-to-head

-FC Kansas City has won five matches and lost one in the regular season series against the Breakers.

-Both teams have never met in the NWSL playoffs.

-FC Kansas City has conceded two and scored eleven goals against Boston in six matches.

-Boston’s only win against FC Kansas City took place on August 10, 2024. Sydney Leroux scored the lone goal in the 65th minute at Dilboy Stadium.

-Lauren Holiday leads the Blues with goals against Boston. She scored one on May 18, 2024 in Kansas City’s 3-0 win and two more on June 7, 2024.

-Currently, goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart leads the league in clean sheets with three.

-Leading the Breakers is forward Stephanie McCaffrey with two goals. On the other hand, Liz Bogus leads the Blues with two goals in 2024 as well.

Next up, the Blues will visit the Portland Thorns FC and Seattle Reign FC on June 19 and 27 respectively.
