FC KANSAS CITY ACQUIRES AN INTERNATIONAL ROSTER SPOT FROM CHICAGO

Shortly after the 2024 NWSL College Draft, both teams announced the trade

KANSAS CITY (Jan. 18, 2024) - After selecting four players in the 2024 National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) College Draft, FC Kansas City announced an additional trade in which the Blues acquired an international roster spot from the Chicago Red Stars in exchange for a 2024 second-round draft pick.

FC Kansas City traded away both of its remaining spots last week in the three-team trade that saw forwards Sydney Leroux and Tiffany McCarty arrive to Kansas City from the WNY Flash and the Houston Dash respectively.

This trade comes in handy for Coach Vlatko Andonovski and FC Kansas City's coaching staff as second-round draft pick (No. 16 overall) and New Zealand international Katie Bowen was selected by the reigning NWSL Champions.

“Bowen is going to play,” Andonovski told The Equalizer after Friday’s 2024 NWSL College Draft. “Huw (Williams, GM and director of soccer operations) has been in touch with her and communicated with her and her coach. She’s going to be in Kansas City.”
