FC Kansas City to hold an auction to benefit fellow NWSL players

KANSAS CITY (April 28, 2024) – In a show of support for fellow National Women’s Soccer League players, FC Kansas City will be holding an online auction to benefit three women who were affected by a house fire last month. Equip-Bid Auctions, which operates in the West Bottoms, will be running the event and FC Kansas City owners have committed to matching the total funds raised through the team’s items. Items will include autographed memorabilia, private training sessions and spots in sold out camps.

"FC Kansas City is holding an auction to raise funds to help our fellow members of NWSL who survived a house fire last month,” Blues midfielder Yael Averbuch said. “Please help us by bidding on these items in support of helping Tiffany Weimer, Tori Huster, and Britt Eckerstrom as they rebuild their lives and replace what was lost in the fire."

The three players were staying with a host family and training with the Washington Spirit when the fire occurred. Everyone escaped from the house, but the three girls lost all of their belongings in the blaze.

“The NWSL and women’s soccer in general is a tight community and it is important for us all to help each other out in times of need,” FC Kansas City general manager Huw Williams said.
