KANSAS CITY (October 3, 2017) – FC Kansas City announced today that rookie midfielder Christina Gibbons will be loaned to Melbourne Victory of Australia’s W-League.

Gibbons was the Blues’ first pick, and fifth overall, in the 2017 National Women’s Soccer League Draft. She started all but one game this season and led all field players in minutes played with 2,083. She started the year on Kansas City’s backline, but made the transition to midfield in the middle of the season and finished her rookie season with a goal and three assists.

“I'm really excited to be joining Melbourne Victory this offseason. Everyone has already been extremely welcoming and I'm eager to get over there, get lots of game experience, and explore the culture,” said Gibbons.

Gibbons will return to Kansas City prior to the start of the 2018 season.

FC Kansas City finished their 2017 campaign strong and is looking for more improvement next season. The team is currently accepting season ticket deposits online here.
