Midfielder Katie Bowen was selected by FC Kansas City with 16th overall pick in the 2024 NWSL College Draft.

International: Bowen is a current member of the New Zealand Women’s National Team. She was an alternate for the Football Ferns at the 2024 Olympic Games in London, England. Started in the midfield at the 2024 U-20 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Japan and played for the senior team in the 2024 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada. Currently has 29 caps with the senior New Zealand National Team.

College: Joined the Tar Heels fresh off her participation in the London Olympic Games and U-20 Women’s World Cup in Japan. During her freshman year, she moved into the starting lineup against UConn on August 31, 2012. Starter 19 out of the 20 games that season recording two goals and seven assists. As a sophomore, she played in all 25 games for UNC and had five assists. In 2024, she served as one of the team captains and started as a center back. First-team All-ACC Selection. As a senior,  she was named to the Hermann Trophy Watch List, second-team preseason Top Drawer Soccer Best XI election on defense named to preseason All-ACC Team.
